Surgery Update- Noon 7/27

Matthew’s surgery was successful. This morning, on Matthew’s 5 month bday, our talented surgeon fixed Matthew’s intestinal malrotation , found/fixed an internal hernia, and took out his appendix. They were not able to do it laparoscopically, so he has a small incision. There was a glitch w/the catheter, so Matthew is being seen by urology right now and then will head to recovery, where we’ll be able to see him. We pray that the glitch didn’t cause any major damage and he heals without intervention.

Since they had to move the bowels around, it may take a few days for Matthew’s system to regulate and for him to be able to eat normally again. Matthew will have to do that before we can go home, so it sounds like we’ll be here at TCH for a few days. We’ll provide updates when we know more. Thank you for the continued prayers for our sweet baby Matthew.
