Happy September--This month is going to be busy! Lots of appointments!
Today Matthew saw the urologist. Matthew’s testes have still not descended and it is now time to bring them down surgically and fix the additional hernia that our general surgeon saw during the Ladds procedure. Thankfully this is a simple surgery, with typically a very quick recovery. At the same time while Matthew is under anesthesia, since they nicked Matthew’s urethra during the Ladds procedure, they are going to do a scope to ensure there isn’t urethral damage.
Our urologist agrees with the radiologist, that from the ultrasound, it appears that Matthew has a urachal anomaly. They will confirm that during the scope. A urachus can become infected and can also become cancerous, so if Matthew does in fact have one, we will most likely have an additional laparoscopic surgery to remove it at a future date.
As we were awaiting the doctor this morning, I was reminded of what a blessing Matthew is to us. He was lying on the examination table, kicking his feet and laughing. He loves to hear the paper underneath him rustle as he moves. He takes such joy in the simple things. It is beautiful!
Coming up next….GI appt tomorrow. Thank you for your continued prayers for our sweet baby Matthew!
